In early October 2021, a large tree fell in Secrest preserve. Since I was not there, I do not know if it made a noise or not. I suspect that it did, because it was a really big Oak tree.
Normally this is no big deal, trees fall in the woods all the time. It’s part of the cycle. Unfortunately this one fell completely across the main path through the woods. Since it was held up by some large branches, it was not an ideal situation for people walking the trail. At least someone may bump their head, at worst something may shift around. (and certainly did not want people climbing on it!)
So, it had to go! Looked at it, thought about it, studied it, had a couple false starts at removing it.
I’m gonna go ponder on this a bit.
